If you are a regular reader of my blog I'm sure you already know this, but if this is the first time you read me, I'm going to repeat it:
We Cubans have no access to PayPal, no access to Zelle, no access to VISA, no access to MASTERCARD, no access to Binance, no access to Coinbase... basically we have no access to any international financial service.
Stop and think about that for a second. What would you do in that case? How would you go about exchanging your cryptocurrencies for local money or vice versa? Who do you turn to when EVERYONE has turned their back on you?
Well, we Cubans are experts in reinventing ourselves. We have no choice, it is reinvent ourselves or die. In fact, there is a phrase that Cubans use a lot and it is: "Here, in the invention". And this is precisely what I am going to talk about today, a Cuban invention: QvaPay: a fintech made in Cuba. Made by a Cuban, for Cubans.
On January 20, 2021, the Cuban developer and influencer, Erich García Cruz, announced the launching of his most ambitious project through a direct link on his YouTube channel: Bache Cubano. In this direct, entitled: "QvaPay: the Cuban PayPal - Start selling and buying online worldwide from Cuba", Erich explained the reason for this project. As a good Cuban, he himself has suffered in the flesh the effect of the sanctions of the economic embargo that the United States government has imposed on Cuba. I am not going to dive into the reasons for this embargo, DYOR.
So, as a solution to these sanctions arises QvaPay, a platform that makes use of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology to allow the Cuban to trade globally despite not having access to international financial instruments. How did it achieve this? Through peer to peer and escrow systems.
Today QvaPay allows us to fund our account on the platform through a wide variety of cryptocurrencies, including $HIVE and $HBD. The latter was a great achievement of the Cuban Hive community, I must say. Well, between all of us we made a strong campaign in social networks until we finally got the miracle.
QvaPay also supports deposits through the Payeer e-wallet and occasionally also accepts funding through Zelle and Tropipay. The latter are not constant because they depend on a peer in another part of the world and, therefore, if there is no peer the deposit cannot be made.
As for withdrawals or capital withdrawals from QvaPay to other instances, we can also enjoy a variety of options (the same that are available for deposits and we can also make withdrawals to domestic and foreign banks.
As for the withdrawal to other electronic wallets, we also find a wide variety of options among which stand out: Payeer, PayPal, Perfect Money, Tropipay, Webmoney and AppleCash.
These withdrawal options are very useful when we need to send money abroad, yes, contrary to what logic would indicate, but sometimes it is necessary.
Let's imagine the case of a hiver, who wants to buy an item on Amazon, for example, and for that he has to send the money to a relative or friend in another country. Well, here is an alternative. Just by depositing HIVE or HBD in QvaPay, and then withdrawing to the PayPal of his contact abroad, he could get the money to him in dollars, with a commission of between 4%-6% at most.
Another nice feature of this payment gateway is the possibility to transfer dollars internally, without commissions.
And last but not least, QvaPay offers its users the possibility of topping up their mobile balance or buying virtual VISA cards with which they can pay at certain US merchants.

Si eres asiduo a mi blog estoy seguro que ya lo sabes, pero si es la primera vez que me lees, pues lo voy a repetir:
Los cubanos no tenemos acceso a PayPal, ni a Zelle, ni a VISA, ni a MASTERCARD, ni a Binance, ni a Coinbase… básicamente no tenemos acceso a ningún servicio financiero internacional.
Detente a pensar en eso por un segundo. ¿Qué harías tú en ese caso? ¿Cómo harías para cambiar tus criptomonedas por dinero local o viceversa? ¿A quién acudes cuando TODOS te han dado la espalda?
Pues nosotros, los cubanos, somos expertos en reinventarnos. No nos queda de otra, es reinventarse o morir. De hecho, hay una frase que el cubano usa mucho y es: “Aquí, en el invento”. Y precisamente de esto te vengo a hablar hoy, de un invento cubano (en el buen sentido): QvaPay: una fintech made in Cuba. Hecha por un cubano, para los cubanos.
El 20 de enero de 2021, el desarrollador e influencer cubano, Erich García Cruz, mediante una directa en su canal de YouTube: Bache Cubano, anunciaba el lanzamiento de su proyecto más ambicioso. En dicha directa, titulada: “QvaPay: el PayPal cubano - Comienza a vender y comprar por internet a nivel mundial desde Cuba”, Erich explicó el porqué de este proyecto. Y es que como buen cubano que es, él mismo ha sufrido en carne propia el efecto de las sanciones del embargo económico que el gobierno de los Estados Unidos ha impuesto sobre Cuba. No me voy a sumergir en las razones de dicho embargo, DYOR.
Así que, como solución a estas sanciones surge QvaPay, una plataforma que hace uso de las criptomonedas y de la tecnología blockchain para permitirle al cubano comerciar a nivel mundial a pesar de no tener acceso a instrumentos financieros internacionales. ¿Cómo lo logró? A través del peer to peer y de sistemas escrow.
A día de hoy QvaPay permite fondear nuestra cuenta en la plataforma mediante una gran variedad de criptomonedas, incluidas $HIVE y $HBD. Esto último fue un gran logro de la comunidad cubana de Hive, debo decir. Pues entre todos hicimos una fuerte campaña en redes sociales hasta que al final se nos hizo el milagrito.
QvaPay también admite depósitos a través de la cartera electrónica Payeer y ocasionalmente también acepta fondeos a través de Zelle y Tropipay. Estos últimos no son constantes porque dependen de un peer en otro lado del mundo y, por tanto, si no hay peer no se puede hacer el depósito.
Para hacer retiros o extracciones de capital desde QvaPay hacia otras instancias, pues podemos disfrutar también de una variedad de opciones (las mismas que están disponibles para depósitos y también podemos hacer retiros a bancos nacionales y extranjeros.
En cuanto al retiro hacia otras billeteras electrónicas, pues encontramos también una gran variedad de opciones entre las cuales destacan: Payeer, PayPal, Perfect Money, Tropipay, Webmoney y AppleCash.
Estas opciones de retiro resultan muy útiles cuando necesitamos enviar dinero hacia el extranjero (sí, en sentido contrario a lo que indica la lógica, pero a veces es necesario).
Imaginemos el caso de un hiver que desea comprar un artículo en Amazon. Para ello tiene que hacerle llegar el dinero a un familiar o amigo en otro país. Pues aquí tiene una alternativa. Tan solo depositando $HIVE o $HBD en QvaPay para luego retirarlo hacia el PayPal de su contacto en el extranjero conseguiría hacerle llegar el dinero en dólares, con una comisión de entre 4%-6% como máximo.
Otra bondad de esta pasarela de pago es la posibilidad de transferir dólares internamente, sin comisiones.
Y por último, pero no menos importante, es que QvaPay ofrece a sus usuarios la posibilidad de recargar el saldo móvil de sus teléfonos y de comprar tarjetas VISA virtuales mediante las cuales se puede pagar en ciertos comercios de EEUU.
