Since last night, we had heavy rainfall at the level of an alarm. I was worried about the water falling from the balcony roof and hitting some of the bitter melons I planted this week, but when I woke up and looked out on the balcony in the morning, I was happy to see that all the bitter melons were doing good. Yes, they are from rainy tropical area.
Last night, when it started raining, my daughter who supposed to go to bed went out to the balcony in her pajama, with winter waterproof gloves, sunglasses, a summer hat, and a sparkly belt, all mysteriously fully equipped.... It was hard work convincing her to come inside the house, change her clothes and push her into bed 😂
The tomatoes, which don't like to be wet on leaes, were covered not only with water but also with dirt. Excuse me tomatoes... Next week I'm going to put straw on top of the soil also to save watering.
Speaking of summer vegetables, ground cherry is going to be the first to bear fruit. I found a bud this morning. My daughter bought the seedling from a local organic farm at a plant market about a month ago. I encouraged her to grow her own as she asked me quite many times to buy ground cherries at supermarkets.
Now that the rain has stopped and the sun is shining, today I am going to plant the plants I bought at the market yesterday. The left one is a local plant and the right one is thyme that smells like roses.

昨日の夜から今朝にかけて、警報が出るレベルの激しい雨が降りました。バルコニーの屋根から落ちる水が一部のゴーヤにがんがん当たっていて心配していたのですが、朝起きてバルコニーをのぞいて、ゴーヤがみんな元気そうにしていたので安心しました。
子供はもう寝る時間なのに、植物を守ると言って、パジャマに冬の防水手袋、サングラス、サマーハット、きらきらのベルトという謎のフル装備でバルコニーに出て行きました・・・。家の中に入るように説得したり、着替えさせたり、大変でした 😂
水をかぶるのが嫌いなトマトが水だけでなく、土までかぶっていました。ごめん・・・。来週は水やりの手間を省くためにも土の上にワラを敷こうと思います。
土を被ったりもしつつ、トマトの成長は今のところ順調です。夏野菜といえば、ホオズキが一番乗りで実をつけそうです。今朝、つぼみのようなものをみつけました。1ヶ月ほど前に近所で開催された植物市で、子供が地元の有機農家から買った苗です。今年はホオズキがブームのようで、スーパーで買ってくれと何度か頼まれて、自分で育てることを勧めてみたのでした。
雨が上がって晴れてきたので、今日は、昨日マーケットで買った植物を植えようと思います。左は地域の植物で、右はバラの匂いのタイムです。
