Looking back towards Beer

Sunday sees the infamous 'Grizzly' run in East Devon. I'll probably go along (not to participate, but to offer my support as it were) and here are a few shots of last year's antics…

So what's this Grizzly business?

It's a multi-terrain race across the coastline and countryside, starting in Seaton… a big event in the sporting and social calendar in this part of the world. The weather was great, and runners and spectators were in good cheer.

The distance is 20 miles for the main run, which is far enough in itself, but with the off-road nature of it all and various elements make it as tough as a marathon, many say moreso. There’s also a ‘Cub’ race which is 9 miles so a shorter option which could work well for many that don’t fancy the full plunge.

No, I didn't do it… we were just out for a walk which coincided with this event and went to a village pub in nearby Branscombe to cheer the brave souls on… plus partake in an afternoon tipple.

Three cheers to whoever named the village of Beer! I wonder what was on their mind and how it came to be?

Anyway, let's see how they get on tomorrow…
