I love the topic and will also love to do justice to it as I begin to look deeply into the youth and discover what actually music is doing to them. In the olden days our parents care less about music even when they were young. Only a few of them paid attention to the music of their generation. It is totally different from what we have today. We can also say that things worked or is still working the opportunity way when it comes to music. Though there are different kinds of music. A young person might be attracted to this type of music, while the other one cares about another type of music.
WHAT ARE THE INFLUENCE BOTH POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE?
Positive influence:
Expression of their emotions: Music have helped our young ones to be able to express what they may not say out if not for music.
Social connection: Music helps the youths to get connected socially. Some of the young ones that knows nothing about the other people and how they live their lives will get acquainted with others and learn from them as they listen to their music.
Awakens cognitive ability: Music helps us to reason, think and do what is needed. Youths get to participate actively because of music.
Music motives: If we check we will understand that youths get more motivation when it comes to music. It is one of the instruments that can bring out our youths. Whenever you want to get the youths to be active, get them good music.
Identity: another major positive influence that music has on youths is that it has given them the opportunity to be identified in their society.
We also have the negative influence:
Learning of bad behavior: some of them have learned alot of bad behavior from the music that they listen to. Sometimes the young ones don't know which music if good for them. They just go ahead and consumed everything that they listen to.
Unhealthy role model: Because of what they see in the lives of other music artists who don't have a good name, they just go ahead and follow them by copying their lives style and living their kind of lives. Today I want to say that we have more baby mamas and papas because of what our youths learn from their role model in the music industry.
Addiction: some young ones have gotten themselves into addiction that has done them more harm than good. Some are drug addict and some are addicted to some other things that has given them a bad name.
Looking at both the negative influence and positive influence it has on the youth, it is all in the hand of a young person to decide which will affect him or her. We have the right to choose what we want to do. No one is been forced to choose any part to follow. In summary, music if very good, and it can be used to change a generation. The lyrics in the music is the message been passed to us. The youths can use it to an extent to activate the gifting in their lives.
