New Record of Iker Casillas

Spanish Iker Casillas, Porto goalkeeper, made history on Tuesday (12/02) when he played, in the visit of his team to Rome in the Olympic stadium, his 19th game in his career in a knockout round of the Champions League. What is an absolute record.

Casillas, 37 years old and winner of three titles of "Champions", all with Real Madrid (2000, 2002 and 2014), started in the eleven chosen by the Portuguese coach Sergio Conceiçao and added another record to his collection.

The goalkeeper of Móstoles reached at least the round of 16 in the 16 seasons that he lived at Real Madrid, from 1999 to 2015, and he did it on three other occasions since, four years ago, he left the Madrid team to sign with the Port.

The only year that Casillas could not pass the group stage of the Champions League was the first he lived in the Portuguese team, when his team finished third and "descended" to the Europa League.

From there, the legendary Spanish goalkeeper, world champion and double European champion with the "Red", always played at least the eighth and will fight this year to advance for the first time to the quarterfinals with Porto, after falling against Juventus and Liverpool in the last two years

Casillas is also the player who played the most matches in the history of the Champions League (178), ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo, second with 162, and also Xavi Hernández, third with 157.
