Head of MI5: Britain is facing the biggest terror threat in three decades from extremists who mount deadly attacks with just a few days planning.

The Security Service,  MI5 (Military Intelligence, Section 5) in annual state of the union assessment of the threat facing the UK, warned that extremists are mounting deadly terror attacks with just a few days of planning as the UK sees a dramatic’jump in the scale and pace of the threat. Andrew Parker (head of MI5) said Britain is facing biggest terror threat of his 34 year career. 

Authorities have stopped seven attacks by Islamists in the past seven months. At least 379 suspects have been arrested in the first six months of this year. There are at least 20,000 who have been on the counter-terrorism radar and others who are not even known to the law agencies.
