What happened to Scott Adams?

Maybe the name is not that familiar to you, but I'm sure the comics are. Scott Adams is none other than the creator of Dilbert, and a person that for all intents and purposes is considered to be a respected intellectual. That being said, since Trump took office, I've somewhat lost track of his mental mindscape, and I'm saying that not to be insulting.

Left of Bernie?

He says this often, he says he's a hard leftie, which makes little to no sense. He's constantly applauding right wing policies, and has pretty much become part of the "Trump is always right camp". To be fair, Bernie is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination either, but the comparison, other than both being populist politicians, is apples to oranges.

I suspect the self given political label, the whole "left of Bernie" is a way to troll progressively inclined people, and I would not be in anyway surprised if in the future he comes out and says it. Now, this is not saying that he does not endorse any left leaning policies, because he does, but to say he's more socialist than Bernie is just comical.

Trump Train

If you ask Scott how Trump is doing, he would be quick to answer: AMAZING, the best president we've ever had. I for the life of me, don't understand this at all. This is not to say that Trump has not had its wins, that would be unfair too, if he pulls of peace with North Korea, I would cheer that myself, but to say that Trump is flawless, to call him a gift of God, that's a stretch too far.

He's often said, and I'm paraphrasing of course, that he's not interested in judging Trump from a standpoint of morality. I can appreciate that, more so because moral character is subjective, and it's also contextual. Some would argue that they rather have an effective president, over one that speaks beautifully and gets nothing done, and we've sure had a fair share of that too.

That being said, character is not something that can be ignored for long. We can't sit here and say that having a president who can conduct himself in a less emotional manner would not be a good thing. However, I get his focus, and I presume that those who still support Trump, do so because they see him as a way to move their political agendas forward, nothing more, nothing less.

But... today

I saw something that really disturbed me, hence why I decided to write this weird post of mine. Scott, who I thought could be reasoned with, is calling for the death penalty of people who assault people at protests. To be more precise, he is calling for the death penalty of ANTIFA members.

Ok, let me see if I get this right. ANTIFA is bad, because they are violent.... Yes, we all agree. So the solution is to escalate violence? What?

Before I'm accused of slander, listen to the video yourself. I'm sure he will delete it, and I'm not sure it will last long on my account. But this my friends, this is quite concerning. This sounds to me as authoritarian as the worse communist regimes we've seen in human history. Was it not Mao who killed anyone who he deemed bad.

The point is.... this is a dark road that no one should be even suggesting, more so someone with such a loud voice.
