GERINDRA Coalition with PKS in 2019 Presidential Election in Indonesia

Gerindra Party Vice Chairman Fadli Zon stated that his party is in line with the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) for a coalition in 2019 General Election. However, Gerindra still opens the door for other political parties in order to increase the power in the 2019 election.

"Yes with the PKS we are firm, but we expect more support from other parties to be stronger to face the Presidential Election and Pileg," said Fadli in Parliament Building, Senayan, Central Jakarta.

According to Fadli, Gerindra is hoping to form a large coalition with the Chairman of Gerindra Prabowo Subianto Party.

"The principle is much better, support and network is wider, more diverse, but we see the reality later," he said.

Earlier, Gerindra Party Secretary General Ahmad Muzani said the coalition to carry Prabowo to be a presidential candidate already exists. Thus, the 20 percent threshold requirement for presidential candidacy in the Election Law has been fulfilled.

The fulfillment of this requirement is none other than because Gerindra has 73 seats and PKS has 40 seats in parliament. With a total of 113 seats, then Prabowo has pocketed 20.17 percent or eligible threshold of presidential nomination.

"To go forward Pak Prabowo must be supported 112 seats or 20 percent, God willing that number has been reached," said Muzani, March, 2018 yesterday
