The politics of today, a mockery to yesterday's democracy

Yesterday, we witnessed a dramatic turn of events in the Nigerian political history. We realized that being educated is not just complete without having knowledge.

In the history of democracy, one thing is known which is diplomacy and tact for any democratic political office holder. Anything short of that is dictatorship and tyranny. How can people live in a country where abuse of power is openly condoned?

Democracy gives room for all the three arms of the government to exercise respective power and responsibilities both independently and jointly without one arm of the government subduing another arm or disrespecting its authority.

What happens when democracy becomes dictatorship? The people stop following and the nation falls into disarray.
I believe I cannot over emphasize the importance of democracy and diplomacy in this modern age.

We have witnessed a significant growth in the values of democracy and it will be a shame to allow anybody, no matter the race, religion or nationality, trample on the values of democracy it has gained over the years.

No man is greater than an entire nation and everyone deserves to reap the dividend of democracy.
A leader who refuses to accept criticism and challenge and instead uses the available means at his/her disposal to stifle the news and blackmail opposing voices into submission in a democratic setting is nothing but a tyrant.

We have to understand that there is a difference between making moves for progress despite fault and cracks left behind by a past administration and continual finger pointing and name calling. The difference between these two sets of people is defined as a leader.

As a leader, if everything failed in the past, why not try to fix it instead of blaming the past for the past?
Were you elected to blame or to work? Right now the strategy is clear; impoverish the people so that they continually have to beg for hand me downs, that way you can win elections.

What do you call a situation when 40,000 armed police officers were deployed to a single state just for elections in that state?
What do you call a situation when billions of naira was set aside just for election bribe in an administration "dedicated" to fighting corruption?

If a child fails a particular class, he repeats, but if an adult fails to lead, he vacates.
What is the essence of leadership if nobody wants you there? A leader who is trapped by past ideologies without a future goal is truly a clueless one.

A leader who had to canvass for elections outside the shores of his country is suffering from inferiority complex.
A man who refused to do a presidential debate but wants to lead is nothing but a nonentity. A president who has zero knowledge of important political figures and acronyms is not a man of the people.

For any nation to grow, sacrifices have to be made and I believe it is about time we decide to take the right path.
It won't grow when the wrong people are appointed into political offices. An English teacher might know a litlle bit kf mathematics, but does that make him a certified mathematician?
