Raczej wolę pisać, zawsze można coś poprawić, usunąć, ująć lepiej, przemyśleć, a w końcu nawet i edytować. Kiedyś natomiast w końcu trzeba nauczyć się mówić. Przynajmniej takie przekonanie towarzyszy mi od jakiegoś czasu. Zgodziłem się więc poprowadzić wykład o Network States parę miesięcy temu, z pełną świadomością, że ta decyzja wiąże się też z nagraniem podkastu na ten sam temat. Problemy ze zdrowiem, wyjazdy i ogólna logistyka odsunęły termin nagrania w czasie. Może i czekałem długo, ale w końcu decyzja o nagraniu zapadła spontanicznie, mimo, że wymagało to skoordynowania terminarzy aż czterech osób. Dość natomiast powiedzieć, że dopiero dzień przed nagraniem wysyłałem prowadzącej linki z materiałami.
Nagranie odbyło się w studiu nagraniowym Radia Klang w Chorzowskim Centrum Kultury, w niewielkim wyciszonym pomieszczeniu na poddaszu. Wyjechałem z domu chwilę wcześniej, tak żeby nie dorzucać sobie kolejnego powodu do stresu. A już było ich kilka. Niewiele czasu na przygotowanie, złożony temat i tylko godzina rozmowy, konieczność tłumaczenia na polski w czasie rzeczywistym; tak, dużo pewniej czułbym się rozmawiając o Network States po angielsku. Jakby tego było mało, moja pojemność płuc wcale nie była optymalna.
Przyjechałem chwilę wcześniej i na szczęście na miejscu trafiłem pod skrzydła prowadzącej Pauliny, która otuliła mnie swoim profesjonalizmem. Po krótkiej rozgrzewce udało nam się nagrać dość interesującą rozmowę, z której jestem bardzo zadowolony jeśli chodzi o warstwę merytoryczną. Oceńcie zresztą sami. Rozmowa umieszczona jest na Spotify i choć bardzo chciałem wrzucić ją na 3speak to parowanie z kontem Hive coś się ociąga i wolę podzielić się w ten sposób niż czekać jeszcze dłużej.
Nie mogło obyć się bez wspomnienia o Hive. Wcale nie jestem pewien, czy Hive to rzeczywiście pierwsze powstające Państwo Sieć. Wiem natomiast, że zapoznanie się z tą koncepcją rok temu po raz pierwszy dało mi jakąś ramę, w której Hive jako tako pasuje. Oczywiście nikt nie jest w stanie tego potwierdzić lub zdementować, zresztą Balaji Srinivasan sam pisze w swojej książce, że to nie jest instrukcja obsługi, a raczej zestaw narzędzi. Bo Hive może stać się pierwszym Network State, ale równie dobrze może zapewnić infrastrukturę dla setek lub tysięcy Państw Sieci. Za wcześnie, żeby stwierdzić coś z pewnością.
Wspomniałem też o @kbk i @hivebeecon. To już 2 tygodnie od tego wydarzenia, które odbyło się w Królestwie, a dzięki któremu poznałem osobiście kilkanaście ludzi, którzy do tej pory byli loginami z avatarem. To naprawdę zmienia perspektywę. No i pewnie, na jakimś poziomie czytając wpisy można skontaktować się z drugim człowiekiem, poznać jakąś część jego/jej duszy, porozmawiać, wymienić poglądy. Mam wrażenie, jakbym wiele osób tutaj znał już bardzo dobrze. Hive jest dla mnie chyba pierwszym miejscem w Internecie, które zapewnia pewne spoiwo, gdzie nawiązywanie kontaktów wydaje się mieć sens. Spotkanie twarzą w twarz tylko wzmacnia to przekonanie. A osobiście nigdy nie byłem jakoś dobry we wchodzeniu z Internetowe społeczności i poznawanie ludzi online.
I chociaż na naszym Hajowym evencie o Network States nie słyszałem ani słowa, to warto zaznaczyć, że według Balaji'ego, zacieśnienie więzów w świecie rzeczywistym to niezbędny etap na drodze do powstania Państwa Sieci.
Tak jak merytorycznie jestem dość zadowolony, tak to nagrania jest dla mnie jasną informacją jak duże mam jeszcze pole do rozwoju. Kiepska emisja głosu, różne dziwne zjawiska dźwiękowe czy dość chaotyczna mowa to stałe elementy moich wypowiedzi, ale tak czy inaczej, mam nadzieję, że przesłuchanie tego podkastu będzie dla Was stanowiło wartość dodaną. Ponoć zainteresowanie tematem wśród słuchaczy jest relatywnie duże, a słyszałem już też opinie, że ten odcinek jest jednym z najciekawszych w serii.

I prefer writing; there's always room for improvement, deletion, better expression, and, eventually, even editing. Unless, of course, it's stored on the blockchain for eternity. However, at some point, one must start speaking. At least that's been my conviction for some time now. So, a few months ago, I agreed to give a lecture on Network States with the full awareness that this decision also involved recording a podcast on the same topic. Health issues, travel, and general logistics delayed the recording. I may have waited a long time, but eventually, the decision to record it was made spontaneously, even though it required coordinating the schedules of four people. It's worth mentioning that I only sent the materials to the host the day before the recording.
The recording took place in the recording studio of Radio Klang in the Chorzów Cultural Center, in a small, soundproofed room in the attic. I left home a little earlier to avoid adding another reason for stress. And there were already a few. There wasn't much time for preparation, it was a complex topic, and we had only an hour for the conversation, with the need to translate into Polish in real-time; yes, I would feel much more confident discussing Network States in English. As if that wasn't enough, my lung capacity was far from optimal that day due to asthma.
I arrived a little early, and fortunately, I found myself in the capable hands of the host, Paulina, who embraced me with her professionalism. After a brief warm-up, we managed to record a rather interesting conversation, which I am very pleased with in terms of content. The conversation is posted on Spotify, and although I wanted to upload it to 3speak, the account linking process with Hive is taking longer, so I prefer to share it this way rather than wait.
Of course, I couldn't avoid mentioning Hive. I'm not entirely sure if Hive is indeed the first emerging Network State. What I do know is that familiarizing myself with this concept for the first time a year ago gave me a framework in which Hive somewhat fits. Of course, no one can confirm or deny this, and Balaji Srinivasan himself writes in his book that it's not an instruction manual but rather a toolbox. Because Hive commnuity might become the first Network State, but it could just as well provide the infrastructure for hundreds or thousands of Network States. It's too early to say for sure.
I also mentioned @kbk and @hivebeecon. It's been two weeks since the event that took place in the Kingdom, where I personally met a dozen or so people who were previously just usernames with avatars for me. It really changes your perspective. And probably, on some level, by reading posts, you can reach out to another person, get to know a part of their soul, have a conversation, exchange ideas. I feel like I already know many people here very well, but it simply is not the same as face to face meeting. Hive is probably the first place on the internet that provides a certain cohesion where making connections seems to make sense to me. Meeting people IRL only strengthens that belief. Personally, I was never very good at engaging in online communities and meeting people on the Internet.
And although I didn't hear a word about Network States at our Hive event, it's worth noting that according to Balaji, strengthening real-world connections is an essential step towards the creation of Network States.
While I'm quite satisfied with the content, this recording is a clear indication to me of how much room I still have for improvement. Poor vocal delivery, various strange sound phenomena, or rather chaotic speech are constant elements of my presentations. However, in any case, I hope that listening to this podcast will add value to listeners. Apparently, there is relatively high interest in the topic among audience, and I have also heard opinions that this episode is one of the most interesting in the series. I hope pretty soon we are going to have set of tools that will make it available also to non-Polish listeners.
