Pokemon TCG - Tatsugiri & Jamming Tower Cards From Twilight Masquerade

Hi there. In this Pokemon trading card game post I cover the cards Tatsugiri and Jamming Tower cards from the upcoming expansion Twilight Masquerade.

I think both of these cards are good in terms of playability.

Tatsugiri Card

This Tatsugiri Pokemon card has 70 HP with a kind of meh attack. Tatsugiri having seventy HP is good as you can use Buddy Buddy Poffin. One retreat cost is good and it has an interesting ability of Attract Customers. As long as Tatsugiri is in the active spot you can use its Attract Customers ability. You may look at the top 6 cards of your deck once during your turn. Reveal a Supporter card you find there and put into your hand. Shuffle other cards back to the deck. An ability that acts like the Item card Pokegear for a Supporter search is powerful. There is a chance that you may not get a supporter from this ability but it is less risky than playing Lumineon V which is a two prize Pokemon.

There is a colourful version of this card. Tatsugiri looks like a piece of sushi or something. Some may find these colours to be too much. What do you think?

Pros

  • Useful ability for a chance to fetch a Supporter card
  • Usable with Buddy Buddy Poffin as Tatsugiri has 70 HP
  • Dragon type, no weakness.

Cons

  • Two types needed for the attack, not a great attacker
  • Tatsugiri has to be in the active spot for the ability
  • You can miss with the ability.

Jamming Tower Stadium Card

Jamming Tower is a stadium card that has a fairly big disruption effect. Pokemon Tool cards attached to all Pokemon on the field have no effect. This card is pretty big as there are a lot of Pokemon Tool cards being used. Here is a sample list of Tool cards that are popular.

Shutting off tools like the above can shut down certain strategies that your opponent may have or disrupt the opponent's board state. In a few cases, negating tool effect can result in a knockout. Consider this example. Miraidon ex (230 Base HP) has a Bravery Charm attached to it (now 280 HP) and has 250 damage on it. Use Jamming Tower to negate the effect of Bravery Charm and then Miraidon ex would be knocked out as it no longer would have 280 HP.

Pros

  • Shut off Pokemon Tool effects to disrupt opponents.
  • Possibly use this for knockouts.

Cons

  • Tools don't work on your side also.
  • Like any Stadium card, this could be a not useful card. Opponent may not play tools in deck or no tools on board.
