Alolan Dugtrio, Palossand ex, Amulet of Hope and Meowstic Cards

Hello. In this post I cover the some more Pokemon cards from the Supercharged Breaker set in Japan. The featured cards are Alolan Diglett, Alolan Dugrio, Palossand ex, Amulet of Hope ACE SPEC and Meowstic. The English version of the cards will release internationally in November 2024.

Alolan Diglett

Alolan Diglett is a Basic 50 HP Metal Pokemon. It has one retreat cost, Fire weakness and Grass resistance. The only attack costs zero energy to do 30 damage if the coin flip is not Tails. If you get Tails this attack does nothing.

Alolan Dugtrio

Alolan Dugtrio is a Stage 1 Pokemon that evolves from Alolan Diglett. This Pokemon has 110 HP, two retreat cost and Fire weakness. Its attack is also a zero Energy cost attack. The Triple Bingo attack does 120 damage if you have 3 cards in hand. If you do not have exactly 3 cards in hand then Triple Bingo does 0 damage.

When I see Alolan Dugtrio my reaction is lol. It is just a Dugtrio with a different typing and each of the three are given yellow wigs. It is just funny to me. The cards look nice too as the Alolan Dugtrio have their yellow hair. Is this a Boy Band Pokemon? Here is the illustration art version of the card. It is quite colourful.

What do you think of Alolan Dugtrio? Is it silly, goofy or meme material?

Sandygast & Palossand ex

Sandygast

Sandygast is a 90 HP Basic Psychic Pokemon. It has 3 retreat cost and an expensive attack. This attack costs three Colourless Energy to do 50 damage. Don't use this for attacking. Use this to set up to evolve into Palossand ex.

Palossand ex

This Palossand ex is a Stellar Tera Pokemon to be released in Supercharged Breaker. It is a Stage 1 Psychic Pokemon with 280 HP, four retreat cost and Dark weakness. As it is a Stellar Tera Pokemon it has no abilities and two attacks. The first attack costs three colourless Energy to do 160 damage plus the additional effect of having the opponent's Defending Pokemon not being able to retreat.

Baryte Jail is the second attack. It requires one Water Energy, one Psychic Energy and one Fighting Energy. It is an attack that has an effect with no damage dealt. You put damage counters on each of your opponent's Benched Pokemon until its remaining HP is 100. If an opponent's Benched Pokemon has less than 100 HP then this attack does nothing to that Pokemon. This Energy requirements for this attack is difficult and this Baryte Jail attack does not result in a Knockout. You do need another Pokemon or two to deal finishing blows.

Something like this Sableye could be used. The Damage Collection attack allows you to move any number of Damage Counters from the opponent's Benched Pokemon to their Active Pokemon.

This Mimikyu with the Worst Gift attack could be used too.

The Sableye and Mimikyu cards are the two cards I can think of that go well with Palossand ex. The combos are hard to pull off I think.

Amulet of Hope ACE SPEC

News Source

Amulet of Hope is another Tool ACE SPEC card. The effect activates when the Pokemon this card is attached to is Knocked Out by damage from an attack from the opponent's Pokemon. Upon activation you may search your deck for up to 3 cards into your hand.

Being able to search for any 3 cards is powerful. The hard part is getting this effect to activate. Counters to this card include Lost Vaccuum, Jamming Tower or using an effect from an attack to knockout the Pokemon with this tool card. This Amulet of Hope card is one of those passive ACE SPEC cards where the effect takes time to activate and the effect is conditional.

Relaxing Teaser, Espurr & Meowstic

News Source

Relaxing Teaser Item Card

Relaxing Teaser is an item card you can play only if you go second and on your first turn. Once the condition is met you can put an Energy attached to 1 of your opponent's Pokemon into their hand.

This item card does not seem very good as the requirement is too much. Being able to deny Energy on the opponent's side is not too bad in the early game.

Espurr

Espurr is a Basic 60HP Psychic Pokemon with one retreat cost and Darkness weakness. The second attack of Psyshot is not very good at one Psychic Energy and one Colourless Energy to do 20 damage. Espurr's first attack costs one Energy to see your opponent's hand. This first attack can be useful in the early stages of the game.

Meowstic

Meowstic is a Stage 1 90 HP Psychic Pokemon that evolves from Espurr. Its Psyshot attack costs one Psychic Energy and two Colourless Energy to do 80 damage. The energy requirements for this attack is a bit much.

The interesting part of this Meowstic is its ability. The ability activates if you discard one Relaxing Teaser Item card from your hand. Once during your turn, switch in 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokemon to the Active Spot. This switching in of your opponent's Pokemon is like the powerful Supporter card Boss's Orders.

The Relaxing Teaser Item card is not great and this Meowstic is not a great attacker. Meowstic's ability is interesting. The question is if this evolution line + Relaxing Teaser is worth putting into a deck. For now I would say no.
