You've been walking for miles.
Ever searching,
Ever hungry,
Ever complicated and trying,
Ever wandering but never lost.
Ever screaming but never heard,
Ever looking but never seen.
Ever second but never first,
Ever a champion but never racing.
Continuing on and never looking back,
Never looking for a different path.
So it is that you go out to sea to find your feet,
So it is that you get lost in your clouded mind.
So it is that you're ever running from yourself,
Ever retracting, wanting to imitate a wonderful life.
Do you feel elation when they stroke your ego, feeding you until you choke.
Do you see through the fog, the pretty lights and paper dolls,
Do you see me standing here, staring at you?
As long as whirlwinds never stop,
I know that I'll never be enough for you.
So go on your mission to save the world,
Because you're dead from the inside out.
And when you're alone and eternally dissatisfied,
Darkness will follow you like a second sun.
Everybody hurts sometimes,
And so it is that your heart shall never be full.
Ever searching,

And the desert's desolation stretches on...
