she stood at the river bank
Lonely, black, above her the Lark sang
About her, about her pride
About her Fame, how she'd been the planets aide

She stood still...
How did she loose it?
She was beautiful, yet beyond the river
Stood mass of Caucasians

They called her ugly, dirty... Putrid
They jeered and gibed, their remarks was pure evil
She sagged. .. She who had been a mother of many Nation
She looked back, wasn't she the one who gave birth to civilization?

Oh!! So, they've forgotten so soon, haven't they
Who built the Ford theater and the Merritt parkway?
Wasn't It was her sons?
Her dark pretty little ones?

Yet, they've forgotten
They called her 'black' , smitten with racism
But then she'd treated them with respect
With hope that they'll see through her innocence

Yet, all they seek, is to exploit her
To prey on her resources, to plunder
Would these last forever?
She's been called 'developing' yet she'd 'developed' others

A smile embellished her face
She was contented, she'd played her role with Grace
The Creator has blessed her, she was governed by taboos/laws
That prevented her to be nefarious; to be virtuous
She had what they never had....... LOVE
And she knew it would one day redeem her, this she was sure of....
