In the Midst of Flowers

“Lost in the midst of flowers”

Through an exquisite garden, I went for a walk,
There were cherry trees on the left, in numbers vast,
And the air was filled with an icy chill,
Which froze my heart with a splendid skill,
With shaking hands, I plucked a flower of Golden-Red,
For my heart, which was surely someplace else,
I wandered there for a night whole,
Just like I did in times old,
But morning came, wrapped in a grey mist,
And I, not ready to leave the beauty of this,
O, this cursed, enchanted garden!
Where I was lost in the midst of flowers.
