The Flights Of Ease

THE FLIGHTS OF EASE

.
.
Love was like a Horse:
Free – Strong – Gracious.
Love now is like the Mule:
Still strong; but restrained, and sad.
.
.
So do my eases take flight,
As I am plunged into pensiveness.
When he says ‘we need to talk’,
I know it’s time for lifelines.
.
.
We must all take this voyage.
Time runs out faster for a lady.
Give me guarantees I’ll be in your ship,
For an honest man revs his engine.
.
.
Do I ride?
Or do I tarry?
I’d rather ride with you.
Are you coming?
.
.
My gleeful waltz stops.
My flailing mane all rest.
A horse before; now a mule –
I must think, and give an answer.
