Looking into setting up local AI

So in this post I will get into setting up local AI, I been in the game for a while and looking to expand and get some more AI capabilities but I figure I can also just share the basics so that someone starting out could give it a go.

It is possible to run some models on newer phones, so if you want to give it a go you can download google edge gallery.
Now this is not going to be super useful but if you want to get more into the game you can check up my phonellama app that is a modded google edge gallery app that exposes API's that you can connect to different workflows.

You can run a fair bit of language models pretty easy, with the ollama app on any operating system it makes it fairly easy to install and launch the models still can't really do much with just that outside of chat and some research but ollama exposes an API so you can wire it up to different tools and models.

If you have a decent graphics card ideally a Nvidia one with 8 GB plus you can also generate some images, videos and music, it is actually not too hard, you just download the pinokio app and much like ollama it makes it easy to install and launch apps.

As for my upgrades as mentioned in another post I am looking to get something else the wise thing would be to build another server like the one I got but that is a big power draw and the wiring in my unit can barely handle what I got so I am going to look into apple silicone, will look to by a used mac studio or a mac book with some decent Vram it is not going to be as powerful as my current setup but I am be able to run bigger/more models be it at a slower rate, but at a much lower foot print and also at a fraction of the power draw, or maybe something else in that class with unified memory, ideally I am going to land a nice deal and not spend too much.
