Senior Citizens are still Good at It

in the Philippines,once , one turns 6o years old they assume a new status that of a senior citizen. Under Republic Act No. 9994 once a citizen reaches the age of 60 years old she will be considered a Senior Citizen and is thus entitled to 20% discount on movie theaters,hotels.transportation, medicines,groceries and other basic utilities like light and water. For those receiving a minimal retirement pensions and no pensions at all social pensions are likewise given. Not only that , every local government is mandated to have an office to attend exclusively to assure and insure that the Law is faithfully implemented. The Ofice of the Senior Citizens Office (OSCA) headed by a member of the Senior Citizens Associaitons Federations. Thus, Booklets for the purchase of medicines , groceries and moviehouses/theaters are issued.

The respective Senior Citizens Association /organization are allocated budget by the government so that senior citizens can celebrate special milestones in thier lives and such other projects and programs they may concieve. Every National Year of the Elderly we given freebies . For this year, celebration of the elderly, we performed a dance number which brought the house down. We danced Madonnas Material Girl complete with all the attire and blingblings Madona wore...

Lately, our congress passed a law making it punishable to maltreat ,abuse and verbally and physically maltreat the elderly in view of the belief that there can be no youth or young without the elderly and behooves on that society to take good care of them
