Beyond- Grand Canyon, Arizona by: Peter Lik

Millions of photographs have been taken of this majestic natural wonder of the world. As an artist, I’m always chasing the unique angle, perspective, and point of view. I researched the Grand Canyon for days and zoned in on a remote area in ancient Navajo land. This was just my starting point. I took the 89 West out of Page, Arizona, and began exploring – all the back roads and primitive hiking trails that led to the edge of the canyon. After 10 days of constant looking I felt like I was searching for the Holy Grail. Late on the afternoon of the tenth day, I was hiking on the rim of an area leading into the Grand Canyon when I spotted a primitive cave in the side of the mountain. I scrambled in there and was blown away. This was it. As the sunset approached, I frantically set up my camera inside the cave looking out with a super wide-angle lens. The colors kicked! The rest is history! My patience paid off.
