A long time ago a kid thought he was picking on me calling me a river rat. I actually took it as a compliment.
The trip began just behind my fathers house on Seneca River. This lock always boats to travel in and out of Cayuga Lake. It is a very nice home for hawks and eagles of all different sorts.
However this was going to be a trip on the river for a while so we turned back away from the lake and turned down towards FreeBridge.
There is some good fishing to be had underneath this bridge. It connects Cayuga and Seneca Counties. Whenever they work on this bridge and have to shut it down you have to drive 20 miles out of your way to get around it. Due to lakes and river set ups around here there isn't a whole lot of places to cross over.
Well we past FreeBridge on down the river. :-)
This dock is here to enter the Wildlife Refuge by boat. There is also a driving path through these wetlands. It is cool though that you can just pull up on boat and go visit.
Can you see that bridge down there? Well that is the New York State Thruway. The only access points are about 15 to 20 miles on each side of the river. It is a toll road that spans from one side of the state to the other.
Just a beautiful shot.
Don't worry its not supposed to rain. We are heading back now though. My dad hasn't really put this boat to the test and it wouldn't be fun to go too far away and have to paddle back.
Here is just some shots of the river and clouds I enjoyed on the way back.
Here is the trusty crew!!!
