Last year, as part of an exhibition for the Women's Week at Kibbutzim College, I presented this work that includes a combination of an existing photograph of Anne Frank and her sister from 1942, with a reconstruction of my own with my sister when we sort of look at each other.
This work stemmed from the feeling that almost every woman felt empathy At one point for that timeless and joyful child, that all she wished for was her freedom.
This picture of Anna with her sister looking at the window is one of the last record of her and her sister before being sent to the death camps.
Something about the window and the relationship between the sisters drewmy attention.
I am considered to be a third generation of the Holocaust, sort of the last living memory of what happened in that terrible war, which charged me with a sense of commitment to previous generations that seemed to have gone through what they had undergone for me and my entire generation.
International Holocaust Remembrance Day is a memorial day commemorating the Holocaust on January 27. This date was chosen because it was the day the Auschwitz concentration camp was liberated by the Red Army, and several countries, including Germany and Great Britain, served as Holocaust Remembrance Day even before the UN resolution.

שנה שעברה במסגרת תערוכה לכבוד שבוע האישה מטעם מכללת סמינר הקיבוצים, הצגתי את העבודה הזאת שהיא כוללת שילוב של צילום קיים של אנה פרנק ואחותה מ1942 עם שחזור שלו שלי עם אחותי כאשר אנחנו מסתכלות האחת על השניה.
העבודה הזאת נבעה מתוך תחושה שכמעט כל אישה חשה הזדהות ואמפתיה עזה לאותה ילדה נצחית ומלאת שמחת חיים שכל מה שייחלה לו היה לחופש שלה. התמונה הזאת של אנה עם אחותה מסתכלות לעבר החלון היא התיעוד האחרון שלה ואחותה בטרם נשלחו אל מחנות ההשמדה. משהו במבט אל החלון והקשר הקשר העוצמתי עם אחותה משך את תשומת ליבי.
אני נחשבת לדור שלישי לשואה באיזשהו מקום, סוג של זיכרון חי אחרון ממה שהתרחש באותה מלחמה נוראית, מה שמטעין אותי בתחושת מחוייבות לדורות הקודמים שכאילו עברו את מה שעברו בשבילי ובשביל הדור שלי.
יום הזיכרון הבינלאומי לשואה הוא יום זיכרון לזכר השואה המצוין ב-27 בינואר. תאריך זה נבחר משום שהוא היום שבו שוחרר מחנה ההשמדה אושוויץ בידי הצבא האדום, ושימש מדינות אחדות, ובהן גרמניה ובריטניה, כיום הזיכרון לשואה עוד קודם להחלטת האו"ם.
