Hunting for the flamingo - George Kathleen

Kathleen George (born George Catlin, July 26, 1796, Wilkes-Barre - December 23, 1872, Jersey City) - an American traveler and painter, specializing in portraits of Indians.

A lawyer by training, Kathleen found himself in painting. For a long time he lived among the Indians in the Americas and created many portraits of Aborigines. The artist was among the very first fighters for the preservation of Indian tribes, In 1841 he published the book "The Native American Indians", illustrating it with about three hundred of his engravings.
