Hello and welcome to my little part of SteemIt, coming to you via Steepshot.

This is a shot of the famous 30 St Mary Axe building in the heart of London’s financial district. The building is affecteonality known as ‘The Gherkin’ due to its design...I think it looks a little like something else, but I’ll leave that to your own sordid imaginations!

The building stands upon the land which used to be occupied by The Baltic Exchange until a bomb from the IRA in 1992 irreparably damaged the buildings.

9 years later work finally commenced on The Gherkin and 2 years after that it was built. It now houses a mix of commercial businesses and restaurants, and is one of the more obvious New buildings on London’s ever changing skyline.

This is the second in my series from The Meeting I Should Have Been Paying Attention To (previous entry was here: https://steemit.com/photography/@pd1882/tower-bridge--tower-of-london-castle-2018-05-24-18-46-07 ), with a couple more to follow.

This picture was taken on an iPhone 7+ in colour, and converted to black & white using the phone’s editing software.

I hope you like the photo - let me know below!

Cheers for now!
