Butterflies! :)

A colorful butterfly visited the garden!

This is the Indian fritillary a colorful and common butterfly from India through Japan.

Here, it is comparing its wings to a pansy blossom!

I think it was laying eggs in the area as last well I found an Indian fritillary caterpillar (to be featured in a post in the near future!) Which was kindly relocated out of the garden.

Resting with wings open.

Portrait time!

Walking in the park I was lucky to spot a Blue Admiral butterfly. This is very effectively camouflaged when perched on a tree, less so when resting on a cement block!

The wings look tattered, however they are not! They do appear to be a bit worn though. This is a part of the camouflage used by the butterfly, the tears help break up the "butterfly" shape, though if you look closely, both wings have years and cracks in the same places on both wings.

Had to chase it for a bit to get a nice portrait of this one too! Silly thing kept perching on my hat!
