My "wish you were here" picture of the sunset on Lake Ogallala
A few fish were caught (which I didn't get a picture of because my phone was dead).
A few campfires were had (made with my patented insta-fire method) and many s'mores devoured
A few sights were seen and lessons about how dams produce energy were learned (talking over a roaring dam outlet is damn hard lol)
But being in the water dominated all the things. Getting my little fishes out of the water long enough to eat proved to be a challenge.
And finally, watching the world slowly come to life around the lake
I usually find time for myself in the wee hours of the morning on my back porch, but this was a real treat. no wifi, no cell signal, no traffic... just birds, fish, and water.
I am so grateful for this time away with my family, for the card games, spooky stories, for the ability to teach them how to build an insta-fire, and to go for walks with each of them and learn new things about their lives... it was truly wonderful and I hope everyone reading this can find some time to escape with their loved ones to someplace remote this summer.
