LION BROTHERS #ROAR

LionBrothers.jpg

Two male Lions strolling along the Rd just north of Nossob in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier park South Africa. The Desert Lions are well adapted to thrive in this arid land. These are the dune hunters. This was taken September 2017.

The Story:

It was early morning when we had our first spotting: a cheetah female with her 3 cubs. We followed them along the road for at least 2km. They where playing and going out of sight every now and again. Suddenly as they peaked a ridge, these massive males where resting in the shadows of a nearby tree. Instantly spotting her and the cubs.

One brother reacted and charged at them. What was interesting is that they all split up and scattered. The mother growling to draw attention then darting another direction. The other brother didn't do much, they where probably sleeping of a kill from last night. It was very frightening to see how fragile their lives are. With amazing luck we heard that they where spotted the next day. All of them where still fine and together!

We where now on our way back down the road with these beasts walking in the road all the way back from wence we came.
