Dreaming of what will be, and what was on a hike in Glendalough

Hello!

Pretty sure that its a common theme that Irish people are dreamers. Well that certainly rings true for me.

When i see movies or a TV series that i really enjoy, cant help myself but think of how it could be better, and how far we have been filtered as to what makes the most amount of money, clicks or revenue.

Just finished watching Joker (2019). Don’t think I’ve ever seen it all before, with Joaquin Phoenix.

My favourite of the franchise. But there are flaws. (Spoiler alert!!) At the end there is a mob around him in clown masks some with hands in the air. Fist bumping. I suppose that’s gotta be a cinematic way of showing the birth of a character. The arora around him, but its clearly fake.

I started writing when i was 16 coming from a place a deep depression and stopped due ti that reason. Now, as im nearing 40 i believe ifs time to revisit an idea i had. There is a method i believe for the makings of any good story. Some kind of method to ensure success. Mine would never indulge something so obvious like a hoard of people sourrounding a bigger than life character such as the joker in such a way.

The movie is a masterpeice and Joaquin Phoenix does great justice to the role. I am merely an observer but like many Irish i have dreams, and this could be a driver to me at least pursuing more writing on here.

Which brings me to what i Actually wanted to wrote about and show…. A day trip to Glendalough in Wicklow.

Its carved out of a glacier long time ago. Beautiful views.

Brought my housemate who was here during the summer. First time visit. For Dubliners at leat once or twice in our lives we would have been brought or have visited here in our lifetimes.

The walk took 3.5 hours or so to go in a loop around a lake and towards the end there was a surprise…

What made this particular visit special in April this year was coming across a kind of deer I’d never seen before and must be uncomonnon in Ireland.

Although looked rough and scraggy it really enveloped me and was so excited to get some nice pictures while keeping a respectful distance.

All in all good to get some fresh air, exercise and limit the amount of cigarettes smoked that day by natural exercise. Im not one to only write and talk about positive things. Thats why i throw that in there.

This is my favourite from the day:

And this is the closest i got to the deer, which apparently is a, “Sika Deer”!

Id been to Glendalough a few times, and sometimes got a picture in the same spot. So its become a ritual when i go there now.

Maybe also a motivational thing to get back in better shape and appearance for the next one :)

Let me know what you think, would you like to see Glendalough? :)

End.
