Saturday Before the Storm (photos)

Howdy!

It's Saturday and the homework and unread emails are piling up, but who can resist going out on a day like this? The sun came out, the birds were chirping, and the looming snow storm means this could be the last chance to get out for awhile.

The train whistle sounded several times, but it was starting to get dark. Perched as I was against a dead tree, complete with mushrooms and woodpecker holes, I thought it was probably best I head back. The vibration from the train might have been enough to finish it off, sending the tree and I both to the ground! Plus, I didn't want the conductor to think I was "up to something..."

... like that time I was threatened with an FBI "interview" for taking photos of a distant oil refinery.

This leaf appears to have held on, with hopes of making it back around to summer. Now, it appears to be frozen in a state of decay.
