Here you can see two works of art by the painter August Macke (1887 - 1914) and one is a classic oil painting as well as a drawing which was painted with black coal and to make the picture look more authentic, wipe techniques were used. As can be quickly recognized in the works, Macke was considered an important representative of Expressionism and it can be generally said that he was an artists who worked with different stylistic devices and one of his most important characteristics was probably the choice of colors and he has always taken care to choose colors with a special effect and the used forms also create an additional flair. Early on he developed a passion for art and decided to start studying in this field and his early years were shaped by the passion for acting and he concentrated to design costumes and during one of his trips to Paris he visited exhibitions of painters of his time who should strongly influence him to take this path as well. He decided to go to Berlin to learn painting there and attended the school of the well-known painter Lovis Corinth (1858 - 1925) and in the coming years he created his first works and made contacts with other artists who should shape his next years and he also married his wife and changed his place of residence several times. He was also involved in exhibitions of the well-known group of the blue rider and always felt attracted to Paris and liked to travel there from time to time and was influenced by other artists and these influences can also be seen in his paintings. He was involved in various group exhibitions and and in 1913 he organized his first solo exhibition, but unfortunately his career was not of long duration because he already fell in France in his early years during the First World War and to this day he is considered one of the most important and influential artists of his time.
