Multiflora rose (Rosa multiflora)

Dear Hiveans, welcome to my new post and I wish you a pleasant day! During one of my last visits to the forest, I recently took a few macro shots, which I would like to share here in my new contribution.

Here you can see a wild-growing rose species that bears the name Multiflora rose and scientific Rosa multiflora. Unfortunately, it has not yet begun to bloom, but the flowering period begins in June and shows beautiful white flowers. Ecologically the Multiflora rose is also very valuable, as it attracts many bees due to the intense smell.

Originally, this species comes from the eastern part of Asia and has been incorporated into many other parts of the world. It usually grows very inconspicuous on paths or forest edges and prefers sunny or shady places and nutrient-rich soils, the plant is hardy and can reach fully grown a height of up to 5 meters.

In symbolism, roses have even more meanings! The best known is probably the association with love and passion and each different color stands for its own meaning. For example, white roses stand for clarity or elegance, and yellow roses are a typical lucky charm. Roses have also been very well known in art history since ancient times and are artistically anchored in many cultures and were expressed in many paintings.

I do not refer this specifically to Rosa multiflora, but in general roses are also strongly anchored in mythology. Already in ancient Greece and Rome it was highly revered and in Greek mythology roses are often associated with the goddess of beauty Aphrodite. In ancient Rome, roses have gained a high priority and were often used for the production of cosmetic products such as perfume.

Roses were also very popular in ancient Nordic mythology and were associated with the goddess Freya and also in ancient Egypt some ancient hieroglyphs with roses as a symbol were found. Mythologically, there are even more connections to roses and maybe I will write more about it in future contributions.

Another very interesting thing about the symbolism of roses in Alchemy is that it is seen as a symbol of the Philosopher's stone. Roses are also associated with the spiritual side of Alchemy and stand for wisdom and are associated with one of the 7 Mystical Stages of development, Conjunction.

Thank you so much for stopping by and watching! I used my camera Sony Alpha 6000 and Sony SEL-55210 Telephoto Zoom Lens (55-210mm) to take these pictures.
