I made some impulse buys after getting a new scanner and picked up several batches of slides a while back from Goodwill and eBay. These pictures span from as early as the late 1940s to as late as the early 1990s. There are many thousands of these slides. I will be scanning some from time to time and posting them here mainly because I find them an interesting way to look back at the past.
I don't know a whole lot about the ultimate origins of this batch of slides other than they came from Goodwill. Like previous batches, these too often have a date stamped on them that I assume indicates when the film was developed and I believe in most cases should give approximate dating for the photograph itself. So far these seem like mostly vacation photos that were taken in the 1960s and 1970s. I've identified places in Italy, France, Mexico, and Hawaii so far.
All of the slides in this set were processed in July 1975. Based on other photos from this batch with the same date and what I can make out in these photos, these were all likely taken in Hawaii.
The first shows a rocky beach. Doesn't look like it would be a good place to swim.
The second shows a group of people. At least a couple of them have appeared in previous sets. Not sure if they were friends vacationing together, or if this was some kind of tour group or what.
I'm not really sure about the third photo. It shows a desk and a chair and the round shield above the chair looks like it could be a seal...like a state seal or something. Maybe this is some kind of government office...Senator or Governor or something.
The last photo shows a pig being roasted in the traditional Hawaiian way. This was likely part of a luau probably put on by a hotel specifically for the tourists I would imagine.
