Why Are Some So Narcissistic? ❤️

What Does It Mean To Be A Narcissist?

Narcissism is seeing everyone else as less important to you. Narcissistic behaviour fuels arrogance and allows us to take risks. Narcissism may allow us to ask for a promotion or ask out a beautiful stranger - good things. But, it can also be bad and cause issues.

Most are in denial of the truth and make a facade where they seem weak and unpretentious. Almost everything that we do has a hidden agenda or ulterior motive. That makes us feel like we are the greatest human alive. We may be doing these selfless acts, but there is some sort of reward behind what we do.

Do We All Want To Be Rich?

It isn't right to think that all narcissists are self-centred people who only care about themselves and their wealth. Not all narcissists care about fame, appearance or wealth. We have painted over narcissists too much; now you may miss red flags that don't have anything to do with vainness or greed.

For example, some narcissists can be of the "communal" variety and really dedicate their lives to helping others. They could believe in statements like "I'm the most useful person I know," or "I will be known for the great deeds I have done." Everybody has met grandiosely selfless martyrs, unselfish to the point where you cannot stand to be around them.

Criticising Yourself To Feel Better

And there are remarkably introverted, or "vulnerable" narcissists. These narcissists feel they're more mentally sensitive than others. They react poorly to even small criticism and want continuous support. The approach they take to feel special could actually be negative; they'll see themselves as the ugliest person at the party or wish a misunderstood genius in a world that refuses to recognise their gifts.

The thing that all subtypes of narcissism have in common is the idea of "self-enhancement." Their statements, thoughts, and behaviours set them apart from others, and this sense of distinction comforts them because they are otherwise combating an unstable sense of self-doubt.
