Enjoying life after 40 - more dancing and tennis

I am no longer in my 30s, what will I do for fun?

Hi everyone - As you know, I am not in my 30s anymore. What will change in my everyday life? I think I will still do mostly similar things to start off. I won't give up on the foundation I have built up over the last 40 years in body movement. To start off, I will continue to play tennis.

When I was 12, I immigrated from Taiwan to NZ. After that, my dad signed me up to a tennis club, and I also played on the high school team. I was number 1 on my team and got us some good results. Towards the end of high school I also entered the Auckland under 18s tournament and got to the second round.

And then after immigrating from NZ to Australia, I lived next to a tennis court, so I played with my neighbours everyday. I also played throughout university and won two tennis trophies for the pennat reserve grade fixtures run by the Brisbane Hardcourt Tennis Association.

Now, my dad (66 years of age) casually walks on the court, wearing jeans and a long sleeve check shirt, completely destroyed me 6-2. Why is he this good? My dad started even younger than me. He uses a lot of strategy in his game and he can choose to hit the ball whereever he wants. It is quite inspirational to still be that good in his 60s. I hope to be just as good when I'm that age.

Even though I can't beat my dad, I can still beat most people I play with, thanks to playing him since I was young. Enjoy the video!

Brazilian Zouk Social Dance

They say when you're dancing with someone, that person is the most important person in your life for the duration of the song. My friend Daria was the most important person in my life during this song. It was really fun dancing with her! She actually asked to make this recording to show her family and friends what Zouk dancing looks like, which I was glad to be part of.

It's been 3 months since I returned to serious zouk lessons. You can see that I'm still mainly doing beginner moves such Passo Basico, Lateral, Prep Lunge, boomerang, reverse boomerang and so on. I did do a ragdoll which we learned properly in class recently so I'm still not doing it perfectly yet. I also threw in a few moves from the international zouk day routine such as a kombre and a body roll.

Are any of my viewers regular partner dancers? If so which types of dance do you do? Feel free to leave a comment and talk dancing to me! As you can see in the video, the style of dance I'm doing is Zouk. I really like the RnB style of music. Other than swing dancing this is definitely my favourite.
