Here I would like to go into the well-known work Faust by the German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 - 1832), which was strongly influenced by occultism and it is about a scholar named Faust who once made a pact with Mephisto who showed him the world in a completely new direction. The drama takes place towards the end of the Middle Ages in the 16th century and is full of ups and downs and it is definitely one of Goethe's masterpieces in which his passion for alchemy also comes to light. In this article I would like to specifically address the alchemy in Faust and Goethe was inspired in his work by the Homunculus in which, according to the ideas of the alchemists of the Middle Ages, it is an artificially created human which has supernatural abilities and Goethe himself described it as a being who pursued the goal of transforming himself into a human form and uses the soul of others as a role model to develop in this direction. The special thing is that Goethe also went into Greek mythology as a role model and had merged different elements with each other and Goethe also went into other important alchemical processes such as the transformation of one's own self. On the path of the Homunculus to its development into the human soul and to the creation, the well-known antimony came into play, which was responsible for the supernatural forces. In the second part of Faust, he specifically dealt with the chemical creation of the homunculus in the laboratory and Goethe described Wagner as the creator and there are also some views that Mephistos was the creator and Goethe was particularly oriented towards alchemists such as Paracelsus and other alchemists and has made a great contribution to spreading the alchemical heritage.
