This tree is called "Stejarul Multisecular Cajvana". This is the biggest oak in Romania and is thought to be about 800 years old.
The girth of the tree, measured at a height of 1.30 m, is 11.01 m after mesurments of Romanian Academy in 2016 and it's height is around 20 m.

"It is said that the oak tree appeared after the great invasion of the Tatars from 1241 - 1242. Then all the men of Cajvana would have died in the battle and since there were so many of them, there was no way they could all be buried in the village cemetery. Thus, a large pit would have been dug where all the people of Cajvana who died in the fight with the Tatars were put, and in that place this oak was planted, which has managed to survive to this day" told a local from Cajvana.

In 1942, the Romanian Academy declared the Cajvana Oak a natural monument.

There is also a live webcam pointed at the oak: https://www.webcamromania.ro/webcam-orase/webcam-stejarul-multisecular/

This tree is part of the "Quercus Robur" species, it has a trunk diameter of three meters and a height of 17 and a half meters. The crown is wide and rich, reaching 23 meters in diameter and covering a third of the total height.

In 2018, professor Adrian Pătruț from "Babeș-Bolyai" University in Cluj Napoca managed to find out the age of the multi-century oak tree in Botoșana. Following Carbon-14 dating, it was established that the age of the tree is 645 years, with an error margin of +/- 50 years.

In the 70s it was declared a natural monument and is protected by both the law and the locals who are proud of it.
