Because I wanted to get better at making portraits I started practicing on my own ugly mug out of convenience.
For this one I worked from a mirror and started with this pose; leaning on my hand, looking kinda bored or grumpy.
I'm not a communist but I had recently been to China where I bought this hat so I thought it could be interesting to add that.
I like it when a picture has some ambivalence;
is this a picture of an angry, disappointed communist?
or just a bored tourist with a cheap souvenir-hat?
is this a political comment about modern China, communism and capitalism?
or did I just add the hat because the picture needed some colour...
