Rail cost of Padma bridge increased to Tk 4,257 crore

The work of Padma Bridge is going on fast. Finally, the rail link in the bridge has given new good news. But the expenditure is increasing in this connection.

Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), ECNEC sources said Tk 4,257 crore has been increased from the original authorized expenditure on the Padma bridge project. The total project cost will be 39, 246, 80 million taka.

This money will come from the government 18 thousand 210 million and the project help will get 21 thousand 36 crore taka.

On Tuesday, the ECNEC meeting approved a total of 16 new and revised projects with this proposal at the NEC conference room in Sher-e-Banglanagar.

The total expenditure on these projects has been estimated to be around Tk 100 crores.

Project sources said that the total authorized cost of the project is 34,988 crore taka.

It is hoped by the government that the 21 districts of South Bengal will be connected to Dhaka with the railway. At present, train from Khulna, Jessore arrives in Dhaka with the Bangabandhu bridge of Jamuna with Kushtia Hardinge Bridge. With Padma rail connection, Dhaka will reduce the distance of Dhaka with Khulna by about 200 kilometers. Direct rail connectivity of Dhaka with greater Faridpur will be established.

The Barisal Division will be connected in the future on the same route. In addition to regional communication, the Padma rail link will be connected with 'Trans Asian Rail Network'.

Chinese railway group of China contractor Padma bridge rail project Railway Ministry signed the commercial contract with the company on 17 December 2015.

The project will be implemented in two steps. In the first phase, the 82 kilometer rail will be constructed from Dhaka to Bhanga. From the second step, the 85 kilometer rail will be constructed from Jessore to Jessore.

In 2015, the cost of the Padma bridge rail project, approved by AKNK, was fixed at Tk 34,898.86 crore. China's debt was about 24 thousand 749 crore taka.

Rail minister Mujibul Haque has already said that the railway will run on Padma Bridge from the day of inauguration as announced by the government.

It is to be noted that, in today's ECNECA approved 16 projects, total expenditure is 96, 234, 77 million taka. Of this, the government will come from 52 thousand 685 crore 5 lakhs And the company's own fund will come from 328 million taka Apart from the project help will be spent. 43 thousand 221 crore 17 lakhs taka
