Be sure to check on your kill switch when trying to start your old outboard.

A real niche post. Probably not interesting to anyone on Steem, but high value for one or two that might search it up.

Been experiencing a side effect of norwegians immigrating today. Old Evenrud went to the "land of the free" to make a outboard brand that turned out to become a "engineered fault brand".

Been trying to get my Evinrude 88' 30hp to start all day. First I had a problem with the starter. Turned out that was bad connection on the battery poles in conjuction with too thin battery cables. Problem fixed; well a new problem turned up; no spark on the plugs! I unconnected the remote starter and sent the 12V directly to the starter with such emergency starter cables. It worked and the old fella ignited. Now the remote ignition works after disconnecting the kill switch in the remote controller.

Tomorrow is going to be a warm day, and the floating device is finally ready to be seaborne.
