Steemit Open Mic Week 51 - Original song "How do I put my feelings into words?"

Hey there Steemians! This is my entry for Open Mic Week 51.

This is a break up song that I wrote many moons ago. At the time I was hurt and confused. My whole world had been turned up-side-down. Over the years I have regularly used songwriting as a way to help me navigate and when I don't have a clear idea of what to do next, I pick up the guitar and let the thoughts and ideas come to me.

This song was very much written in this style, hence the name. I figure, if you can't put your thoughts into words then you'd best write a song about it.

Lyrics:

It crept up slowly, it started well before you had noticed
And when it took shape, it hit you like a wave
You needed a break but you got broken
Needed to speak out but you got outspoken
You had no escape, cause there was nowhere left to run

Now you’re running out of ideas
And you’re searching for ideas

It took you a long time, to travel to where you had wanted to be
It took you a lifetime, to see it was just a falsity
You’re just a contender, we’ll never remember
Another contestant washed out to sea
Do you even recall?
Or is it just a distant dream?

Now you’re running out of ideas
And you’re searching for ideas

So when I come knock on your door, like I did the night before
Will you let me in? Will you let me in?
And when I say goodbye tonight, will it be goodbye this time?
Will you let me in? Will you let me in?

So when I come knock on your door, like I did the night before
Will you let me in? Will you let me in?
And when I say goodbye tonight, will it be goodbye this time?
Will you let me in? Will you let me in?

And when I say goodbye tonight, please just say goodbye this time
Just say goodbye, say goodbye, say goodbye

Cause I’m running out of ideas
And I’m searching for ideas
And I’m running out of ideas
And I’m searching for ideas on how to say goodbye
