Hi guys, this is our entry for this week!
It's been long time since I've joined last time, but I'm back with a friend of mine (@smilever12).
We decided to partecipate with a song that marked our last mounths: "Matilda" by Alt-J.
As the most of the songs of this group the text seems very "unclear", but this is one of the reasons of why it gives you lot of emotional and profound moments.
However if you want to understand what inspired them to write this song we will give you the result of a research that we did at the bottom of this post: YEAH, ONLY AT THE BOTTOM! Because we think that it must be listened without any explaination first, and we hope it will give you the same feelings that it gave to us (or we will try at least, bacause this is just a cover).
Ciao a tutti ragazzi! questo è il primo post che traduco in italiano (diciamo che sarebbe meglio dire che scrivo) visto che finalmente ho notato che la community italiana di steemit si sta espandendo
Ho deciso di partecipare alla contest di Open Mic, (a cui avevo già partecipato in passato), assieme al mio amico, se non coinquilino, Vittorio (@smilever12) con la cover di "Matilda" degli Alt-J.
Come la maggior parte delle loro canzoni il testo è "confuso" e "poco chiaro", ma forse è questo uno dei motivi che la rende così emozionante e regala moltissime sensazioni.
Alla fine del post abbiamo inserito comunque una descrizione frutto di una piccola ricerca che abbiamo compiuto tempo fa spronati dal capire, appunto, cosa volesse dire la canzone; ma vi consigliamo di leggerla solamente dopo averla ascoltata perché speriamo possa regalarvi tante emozioni quante ne ha regalate a noi (o almeno ci proviamo visto che è una nostra cover)

The text is almost referred to the film "Léon", precisely to the final scene where the man (that has a strong feeling with the little protagonist Mathilda) sacrifice himself to kill the man who had extarminated the whole Mathilda's family, saying "This is from Mathilda", that during the song becomes "This is for Mathilda".
Alt-J explained (about the quote of Johnny Flynn) that they usually insert the inspiration input in the text of their songs
Il testo è per lo più riferito al film "Léon", più di preciso alla scena finale in cui l'uomo (che ha un rapporto molto intimo con la ragazzina protagonista Mathilda) si fa esplodere per uccidere l'uomo che ha sterminato la famiglia della protagonista, dicendo la fantomatica frase "This is from Mathilda" ovvero "questo è da parte di matilda", che nella canzone diventa anche "this is for Mathilda" / "questo è per Matthilda"
Per quanto riguarda la citazione a Johnny Flynn, attore e musicista Inglese, gli Alt-J hanno spiegato che semplicemente è stato il loro primo spunto/input per scrivere la canzone, e come spesso fanno hanno deciso di inserirlo anche nel testo
