Steemit Open Mic Week 95 | My Burden With Me (cover) by Mispo | @daily-musings Acoustic Cover Song

Here is my entry for Steemit Open Mic Week 95. This isn't a well known song, but my friend sent it to me a few weeks ago and I instantly loved it. It's got an awesome bluegrass/folk/country sound. Here is my acoustic cover of "My Burden With Me" by Mispo.

My Burden With Me

Mispo

I was on that train
To the border town
I was on that train
I was freedom bound
I was on that train
When the trestle fell
No arms to hold me
As I said my farewell

Do you see that dove who flies to me?
Can you hear my love as she cries to sleep?

Where the Mackinaw river
Meets the great Illinois
There I gave my love
To a low-born boy
I was lost in the light
Of a flame burning wild
When I felt the stirring of
A star-crossed child

Do you see that dove who flies to me?
Can you hear my love as she cries to sleep?

Well the burden grew
And we planned our escape
He said, I will meet you
Up that North Country way
I was just past Eureka
When the engine broke free
I am gone to God
And my burden with me

Do you see that dove who flies to me?
Can you hear my love as she cries to sleep?

Do you see that dove who flies to me?
Can you hear my love as she cries to sleep?
