No he never won an Olympics medal, he was leading the race in Olympics but at 200 m mark he looked back and then others took over and he managed to come 4th and didn't get any medal
The reason he looked back is because crowd and his Coach were shouting, “Bhag milkha bhag” to encourage him as he was leading till 200m mark in the race, these words bhag milkha bhag reminded him of his darkest childhood incident when his both parents were killed by the mob in present Pakistan at the time of partition and his parents where shouting to him to leave that place otherwise he would also have been killed, seeing his parents dying in front of him he went into shock and just stood there frozen seeing this his parents shouted with even more intensity bhag milkha bhag that means, “run milkha run” finally milkha somehow managed to escape from that place and came to India, but the last words of his parents deeply sank in his mind and always stayed with him, “bhag milkha bhag”.
During the race for a split second, he felt that his parents were saying those words “bhag milkha bhag” and that’s why he looked back and lost the race.
