Today My Team Moved Offices
The cube at the very end was me.
My work team had occupied the same office space for over a decade. We are a group of nine within a larger organization. While I have been with my company for 11 years, I am the second newest member of this team. I’d only been in the old office for 4.5 years.
Only.... 😄
Though the new office is just a four minute drive up the road, people have been having a fit about the move. Lots of reasons why:
- We had finally gotten the old place “just right”.
- The move was sudden and unexpected.
- People ‘s commute options are limited at the new spot.
- We went from having a space with three offices (two were shared) and three cubes and a great team space to this sort of cube farm... which of course no one loves.
The packing took a couple of weeks, but everything was boxed up by the end of day on Tuesday.

Good bye old cube! We had some times. ☺️
Everyone worked from home on Wednesday while the movers dismantled and transported everything up the road.
Today We Unpacked.
New cube looking like a train wreck.
I think the unpacking was far more difficult than the packing. We had so many boxes it was impossible to find things. Plus, the new office was too warm. I was sweating and peeling off layers as the day progressed.
But after a hard day’s work, I finally got my spot squared away. ☺️
This is where you’ll find me steeming on quiet days. 😉 The welcome back signs are from friends in another department. I worked in this building for seven years before accepting a position with my current group.
