What do you have to do when they offend you?

Once in Japan, a wise old samurai lived in a village. Once, while teaching his students' lessons, a young warrior approached him, known for his cruelty and harsh temper.

The favorite technique of this warrior was a provocation. He managed to get his opponent out of balance, accepting his challenge, dazzled by rage, making mistakes after a mistake, as a result of which he lost the battle.

The young fighter tried to apply his technique to the old samurai. He began to offend him and to curse, spit, and throw stones on him. But the wise samurai remained unbridled and continued with his pursuits. At the end of the day, tired and irritated by his failure, the young warrior left.

The disciples of the samurai, astonished by the behavior of their teacher, asked him:

"But why did you take all these offenses and do not bring it to battle?" Have you been afraid of him?

  • If someone comes to you and brings you a gift, but you do not accept it, who will own this gift? - the samurai answered the question.

"And the previous owner - the one who bears it. - said one of the students.

"It's the same thing with envy, hatred, and insults. Until you accept them, they belong to the one who offers them to you.
