Advice from a Turtle: Profit From Mistakes.

I want to share a quick thought with you. I only ask that you consider seeing a new perspective.

Someone told me once:

The only way want that you can profit from your mistakes is by learning from them.

Ronald Chavez, mentor and friend.

Mistakes are painful and expensive. There are always costs involved. Resources and time spent towards a failed effort. Time is of course the most essential of losses. Time is never returned and is priceless.
How can we make the best of mistakes?

First of all, do not fear making mistakes.

Secondly, respect the time invested in an effort and learn from your errors. A few tips to do that:

  1. Face the difficult emotions. Use mindfulness to discern what happened and why. Do not shy away if the error was your own making. More often, it is.
  2. Remember that you are the only one responsible for your wellbeing.
  3. Think through your mistakes. Play out different scenarios and see yourself in third person.
  4. Do not repeat mistakes. Period.

Remember, the only way to get value from your mistakes is by learning from them.
