Reasonable cause to have a potato peeler in public? I don't know, an impromptu french-fry party?
As you may have heard, the U.K. has been experiencing a sharp increase in knife-crime, especially the London area. Now, politicians and police are cracking down, not only on knives, but anything that looks like a knife. Source

This is a classic case of a horse designed by committee - observe a problem, and come up with a solution that does not address core issues. People commit assault and murder, whether it's with knives, potato peelers, guns or pillows.
Core issues are mental health, joblessness, and societal / cultural fracturing caused by unrestricted immigration. But these issues are almost taboo.
The inmates are running the asylum. My dear departed Granny must be rolling over in her grave...
