Norway's Constitution Day, the 17th of May!

Today is Norway's Constitution Day and we started the celebration early with joining the parades. It's a strong tradition that kids walk in parades, and my son being a first grader was walking the Elementary School Parade for the very first time. He's the one in the picture above. He's wearing a National Costume called Bunad.

Three's also a parade for the kindergartens, typically the parents are walking with their kids. Here are my two youngest getting ready to march. Their grandfather (my father in law) next to them.

When the kindergarten parade was over the kids could watch the Elementary School Parade marching by. Marching bands, flags and singing makes it a pleasant experience.

After all kids parades was over we gathered in the local park where the kids could play and eat ice cream. Here's the only photo I managed to take with all my three kids in it...

We did try to take a family photo, but my daughter insisted to be held by her grandfather and looked the other way while my youngest son was hiding behind. I'm wearing a National Costume from the region Rogaland, while my father in law has his from Gudbrandsdalen. Each costume has origin from different places around Norway.

To run the day a bit fast forward we went home for lunch with my parents in law, and after that we went to the school yard for games, entertainment, cakes and ice cream.
Here I am with my father in law and daughter. After lunch I changed to a National Costume that his (my father in law) mother made when she was young, about 70 years ago!

This is what Andrea looked like by the end of the day. Proof that it was a great day!
