Ninja or Shinobi (忍者 or 忍 び?) (In Japanese, literally "Someone who moves in secret") is a Japanese feudal spy who is trained in the art of ninjutsu (roughly "art of silent movement") of Japan. Ninja, like samurai, obey their own distinctive rules, called ninpo. According to some observers of ninjutsu, a ninja's skill is not murder but infiltration. Ninja comes from the Japanese language that reads nin which means infiltration. So, the special skill of a ninja is infiltrate without sound.

Ninja is usually immediately associated with a skilled yng martial artist, expertly infiltrated and all-mysterious as it appears in a movie or manga (Japanese comics). The word ninja is made up of two words: nin (忍?) And sha (者?), Each of which means "hidden" and "person". So the ninja is a professional spy in the feudal days of japan. Ninja's history is also hard to be tracked. Info about their whereabouts is stored tightly in secret documents.

Ninja can also be interpreted as a name given to someone who master and explore the martial art of ninjutsu. Nin means of defense and jutsu is an art or way. The word ninja was also taken from the word Ninpo. Po means the philosophy of life or in other words ninpo is the highest philosophy of martial arts ninjutsu which became the basis of the life of a ninja. So the ninja will always be alert and integrated into the principle of ninpo.

The Ninja was a professional spy at the time when the samurai still held the highest authority in Japanese rule in the 12th century. In the fourteenth century the struggle for power intensified, information about the activity and strength of the opponent became important, and the ninja became more active. The ninjas are summoned by the daimyo to gather information, destroy and destroy arsenal or food storage, and to lead troops in the night. Therefore ninjas get special training. The Ninja remained active until the Edo Period (1600-1868), in which the power was finally restyled by the government in the Edo period.

The appearance of ninja in 522 is closely related to the entry of nonuse art to Japan. It is this nonuse art that paves the way for the birth of a ninja.

The art of nonuse or so-called art act silently is a religious practice performed by priests who at the time were tasked with providing information to people in government. Around the year 645, the priests refined their martial skills and began using their knowledge of nonuse to protect themselves from intimidation by the central government.

In the years 794-1192, the life of Japanese society began to develop and gave birth to new classes based on wealth. This class family fought each other in an attempt to overthrow the empire. The need for families of murderers and spies is increasing for power. Therefore the demand for nonuse practitioners is increasing. This is the beginning of the birth of the ninja. In the 16th century the ninja was known and existed as a family or clan in the city of Iga or Koga. The ninja at the time was a profession closely associated with high-level intelligence in the feudal government of kings in japan. Based on that, each clan has a tradition of teaching martial arts in secret in the family alone. Martial science which later became known as ninjutsu. It is the science inherited from their ancestors and upon the results of the perfection of the art of warfare for tens of generations. According to historians it has been going on for more than 4 centuries. It encompasses the philosophy of FudosHIN, espionage, commando war tactics, inner power, supernatural forces, and other types of martial arts that grow and develop according to the times.

But there is a historical record which says that around the 9th century there was an exodus from China to Japan. This was due to the Tang Dynasty's collapse and political upheaval. So many refugees are seeking refuge in Japan. Some of them are great generals, warriors and monks. They settled in Iga province, in the middle of Honshu island. The generals include Cho Gyokko, Ikai Cho Busho bringing their knowledge and mingling with local culture. Military strategy, philosophy of belief, cultural concept, traditional medicine, and traditional philosophy. Everything blends with local customs that eventually form a science called ninjutsu.

Ninja are required to survive in the midst of nature, therefore they become naturally trained to be able to distinguish edible plants, poison plants, and medicinal plants. They have an ingenious method of knowing the time and the wind. Ninjas use stars as their navigational tools while performing missions at night. They are also adept at installing traps, cooking animals, building shelters, finding water and making fires.

Ninja wear clothes that cover their bodies except the palms and around the eyes. This ninja shirt is called shinobi shozoko. shinobi shozoko has 3 colors. Black shirt is usually worn when doing missions at night and can also be a sign of real death for the target. The white color is used for missions on a snowy day. The green color as camouflage so they are not visible in the forest environment.

Shinobi shozoko has many pockets inside and outside. These pockets are used to store the small equipment and weapons they need, such as poison, shuriken, knives, smoke bombs and so on. The Ninja also carries a traditional small P3K box, which is filled with liquids and drinks. Ninja also wear tabi that resembles boots. The gap that separates the big toe with the other finger makes it easier for ninjas when climbing a rope or wall.

Ninja women or kunoichi who usually work by using their femininity when approaching the target using psychic manipulation and inner war as their weapon. they can approach the target and kill it without a trace. Kunoichi has a different mission to the male ninja. They are more often close to the target, so they also use more melee weapons such as metsubishi, poison, machetes, string, and tessen. Besides these weapons are also practically brought without notice.

Ninja has a weapon in various types, shapes, and sizes. The commonly used weapon is the katana (sword) and is often placed on the back. [1] Throwing weapons such as small knives, or star-shaped discs, are known as shuriken. Another sophisticated ninja equipment is a chain crescent called kusarigama, [2] kaginawas (roped anchors) to climb the walls, ashiaro to make fake footprints so as not to be traced while performing missions, metsubushi (eggshells filled with sand and metal dust, usually also mouse droppings) that serves to blind the opponent.
