As Nigeria celebrates her Independence, it's needful to repost this piece.
A PIECE FROM MY HEART
Where shall we hide
When sorrow surrounds us in bitterness?
Who will be by our side
To comfort us after the departure of oneness ?
Is war the only way to make peace reign?
Do killing come with any reasonable gain?
Why do we love to hate one another
And hate to love our very own brother.
For how long shall we wail for the absence of Peace
And pretend not to perceive the choking smell of intence rancour that have refused to cease?
Why? Why do we celebrate a Nation's death
And murder the future of a Country at birth?
Why do we wear hatred like precious hats
And allow bitterness make a home in our hearts?
Why? Why have we exchanged our hospitality for hostility
By building walls of disunity to destroy our relationship?
Why have we burnt the bridge of our friendship
And caused our trust to sink in the ocean of deceit?
Come, let the East host the West
And the South be the North's Guest.
Let's bury the hatchet and lay hatred to rest
and see how Peace will peacefully brood us in its peaceful nest.
