The elders of Igbo land would always say:
He who dances the surugede dance does not know that surugede is the dance of the spirits.
The Nigerian federal government, intimidated and brutalized her subjects in the South East geo-political zone of the country in what was the preamble to the military operation code named "OPERATION PYTHON DANCE", and I want to say a few of my thoughts here, but before I go ahead I want to state the fact here again that I am not an IPOB member, and also not a pro Biafran Agitator, and so what I have to say here is not with any bias or prejudice.
Let me start by asking:
"What was Nnamdi Kanu's offence again that led to his arrest in the first place; treasonable felony and inciting violence, (that was what they called it back then right?).
When Muhammad Buhari, as an opposition leader in 2015 said that, if he loses the 2015 elections, both the dogs and the baboons will be soaked and covered in blood in the country, who arrested him, weren't all those treasonable felony back then? Why wasn't Buhari arrested back then, today he's the president and Nnamdi Kanu says his mind, it has suddenly become treasonable felony. Remind me again, who defines treasonable felony in Nigeria, the constitution or the president of the day.
The IPOB members are Nigerians and have a right to association, let us not forget that these men have conducted themselves in the most peaceful manner, I have encountered them one on one during their protests and they are in every way peaceful, yet the Nigerian Army have continually killed them during such protests without any provocation.
Let me also remind us that in 2011, after Muhammad Buhari lost the presidential elections, his supporters took to the streets chanting 'SAI BABA' killing people and destroying properties. Properties worth millions of naira was destroyed, lives were lost, some youth Corp members lost their lives in that ugly incident, yet our gallant soldiers didn't fire a single live bullet at the protesters, and Buhari never apologized for the actions of his supporters till date, but today, Buhari is president, and protesters protesting peacefully are being shot with live bullets.
IPOB is only clamoring for self determination, and that is their right, why would Buhari and his soldiers try to intimidate and bully them. Martin Luther King Jr, once had a dream that one day his children would walk the streets of America and wouldn't be seen as black monkeys, he worked towards achieving this dream through peaceful demonstrations and years later Obama, a black man became an American president, Nnamdi Kanu also has a dream that one day his children would be called Biafrans and not Nigerians, why deny him the room to pursue his dreams because from where I stand, that is the only crime he and his IPOB group has committed.
The Nigerian Army with the support of the Buhari led federal government trampled and is still trampling on the human rights of Nigerian citizens, killing armless and defenseless civilians in the South East.
The Army went ahead to declare IPOB a terrorist group, when Buhari in 2014 declared to the Goodluck Jonathan led Federal Government that, "a fight against Boko Haram in the North East is a fight against the North". The Nigerian Government couldn't even declare Boko Haram a terrorist group, it took the United Nations to declare them a terrorist group, yet a group that has never carried arms for once was declared terrorists.
The Army has been unable to win the war against Boko Haram that has been raging for years now, there is enough party in Sambissa Forest where the pythons can go and dance, in fact, they have been invited to a dance there, but the pythons cowardly slithered away from where they were invited and have come to the south east in a show of shame.
In the SOUTH EAST they declared PYTHON DANCE.
In the SOUTH SOUTH they declared CROCODILE SMILE.
But in the NORTH EAST, they declare LAFIA DOYLE, meaning PEACE BY FORCE.
So while the python is dancing in the South East, the crocodile is smiling in South South, then in Sambissa Forest, Peace must return.
I do not see this as operation python dance, rather I see it as a systematic ethnic cleansing.
